Ignite Portland 10 Kickoff Meeting Notes!
================================================================================
Wednesday, September 14, 2011; 7pm; Lucky Lab Overlook Taproom
================================================================================

Tasks
    - Figure out dates for IP10, February for Global Ignite Week!
    - Discuss how mailing lists and communications should work
    - Figure out computers for running presentations because MacForce closed
    - Start budget spreadsheet
    - Website redesign
    - Clarify communication and make more consistent across sites/events
    - Upgrade Etherpad (we need more colors)
    - Harrass O'Reilly about date for Global Ignite week

Process Ideas
    - Lunchtime meetings are difficult to schedule and limit the pool of core planners either due to time constraints or budget
    - Publicly posted meeting notes are great and we want to improve transparency for event
    - We want to emphasize diversity and open process

Decisions
  - Created http://groups.google.com/group/igniteportland-planning for planning. Please join.
  - Close submissions that have been open, but notify any submitters that we'll be opening things up soon and to please resubmit.
  - Email groups for announcement list and planning list will be set up to reduce traffic
  - We want to continue partnering with the Food Bank! We want to do more planning around this and have someone from the Food Bank table, provide information, and recruit volunteers!
  - Next Planning Meeting! October 12, 7pm Lucky Lab Overlook

Thoughts

  - Budget first, fundraise second
  - Syndicate is applying for a 501c3, there are requirements around sponsorship and advertising to take into account
  - Stuff! T-shirts, cards, buttons, etc. non-year specific
  - Speaker badges that speakers get to keep!
  - Ignite business cards
  - With MacForce's demise we need to find a new tech sponsor (3 Mac laptops) or budget for this expense
  - Have a donation bucket and suggest a $1 donation - having community/personal donations looks very good in trying to become a recognized not-for-profit

Have a question you want to make sure we cover? Add it here!
    - new venue? (The venue rocks and we're planning to keep it)

Trying to codify the stuff we talked about into something suitable for blog / mailing list posting:

We met last night to kick off planning for Ignite Portland 10. We had eight people in attendance and made good progress

- [Sherri Montgomery](http://pdxyogini.com/) and [Reid Beels](http://reidbeels.com) have volunteered to co-chair IP10 and will be leading the planning process.
- We're aiming to hold Ignite Portland 10 in February 1012 as part of [Global Ignite Week](http://igniteshow.com/global-ignite-week). We'll lock in our date with the Bagdad as soon as we know the schedule for GIW 2012.
- Due to [recent Legion of Tech news](http://legionoftech.org/2011/09/tough-times-tough-decisions/), we're now operating Ignite Portland under the wing of [Stumptown Syndicate](http://stumptownsyndicate.org), an Oregon nonprofit dedicated to providing support and infrastructure for the Portland tech community.
- Our next planning meeting will be **Wednesday, October 12 at 7pm at the Lucky Lab Overlook Tap Room**. You can find details on [Calagator](http://calagator.org/events/1250461338) and [RSVP on Plancast](http://plancast.com/p/7iv0).
- To keep up to date as we plan Ignite Portland 10, be sure to join our [planning mailing list](http://groups.google.com/group/igniteportland-planning)
